2026 Theme: The God We Know, The Life We Show
“Building out the Blueprints”
- The meaning of God’s wisdom - The blueprints revealed
- The manifestation of God’s wisdom - The blueprints results
If God is God, then He is infinite, which thus means He is infinitely wise and knows perfect wisdom. He is not just the standard of wisdom; He is wisdom. His wisdom remains perfect without ever making a mistake in any thought, choice, or action. Every time God uses His wisdom He perfectly applies it for His glory and for the most perfect end. God knows everything from beginning to end; before that and beyond that. God’s outcomes are the best outcomes because they are the wisest outcomes.
God thought the wisest choice was to share His wisdom and plan with us. This would of course imply that mankind was created because He had a plan for us! Despite man’s fall, God’s wisdom brought forth a perfect plan. This involved us, but it also involved His Son.
- The wisdom of God was revealed through Creation (Prov. 3:19-20; Jer. 10:12). Every work of God’s Creation shows His handiwork and wisdom.
- The wisdom of God has been revealed through redemption. God devised the greatest plan in human history. When sin and disobedience began in the Garden of Eden, God’s plan wasn’t suddenly derailed. He was prepared to send His own Son to redeem fallen mankind.
Jesus Christ Himself is wisdom personified (I Cor. 1:30). That wisdom exhibits itself through God’s plan that included our righteousness (justification) because of Jesus’ death, our sanctification (holiness) because of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, and our redemption (future deliverance and glorification) because Jesus bridged the gap and provided a way for us to enter Heaven. God’s wisdom revealed Jesus Christ to be the world’s Savior and provided salvation through Christ’s death. - The wisdom of God was revealed through fulfilled prophecy.
It is possible for a brilliant person (humanly speaking) to trust in Christ. But it won’t be as a result of their wisdom or intellectual thoughts. Their salvation will be just like ours; through repentance, belief, and faith in the work of Jesus Christ on their behalf. - The wisdom of God has been revealed to mankind.
The Jews looked for signs while the Gentiles looked for wisdom and both missed the wisdom of God. Mankind doesn’t have enough brilliance to figure out a way to God. But, God in His wisdom and His power gave people what they needed most: Christ crucified! (I Cor. 1:22-23).
Conclusion
God doesn’t have to prove His wisdom, but He has demonstrated it to us anyway. Our all-wise Heavenly Father, on the basis of His character, has chosen to liberally shower us with His wisdom. Yet, is up to us to take that wisdom and use it for and in our lives.
- In what ways has the wisdom of God been shown to you?
- When we begin to partake in and use the wisdom from above, it is then, and only then that we see God clearly. Do you recognize that God’s wisdom is the revelation of His heart toward us?
- For what issues in your life do you need to ask God for more of His wisdom?
- What happens if you struggle with God’s wisdom being applied in your life? At this place, we must live by faith. That faith is appropriated in the times we see God’s heart, and we remind ourselves in the trials that His wisdom continues in our life.
In 2026, let us be people who KNOW and SHOW God more.
Building out the Blueprints
God’s wisdom is the totality of His understanding, knowledge, and actions done in a perfect way, at a perfect time, and with perfect completion. Because God is all-wise, He never fails. Because He is all-wise, He is always trustworthy. Because He is all-wise, He knows right from wrong. Because He is all-wise, He knows how to apply the standard of wisdom in all situations.
- The examples of wisdom – blueprints represented
- Solomon: When asked what he wanted, he asked for wisdom (I Kings 2:2ff; 9).
- Baby decision (I Kings 2:16-28)
- Building the Temple (I Kings 5:12)
- Queen of Sheba’s visit (I Kings 10:1-9)
- Proverbs
Application: Solomon teaches us that God highly values both the asking for and the exercising of wisdom.
- Joseph: When facing unjust treatment in his life, he chose to trust God at all times (Gen. 39:1-5).
- In the midst of pain and unjust punishment, Joseph wisely chose to remain faithful to God. He had to trust God as he walked his road of trials.
- Situation with Potiphar’s wife (Gen. 39:8-20)
- Saving grain for an upcoming famine (Gen. 41:28-44)
- Bringing his family to Egypt (Gen. 45:1-28)
Application: God doesn’t make mistakes for He is all-wise. Most people today would say Joseph’s experiences of being treated horribly, left for dead, and sold into slavery are proofs that God is unwise and untrustworthy. Why would a good God allow bad things to happen to Joseph? But as we can see from the outcome of Joseph’s story, we can confidently see that God is wise and trustworthy and He keeps His word as Judah’s line is saved from certain death in the famine because Joseph brought his family to food and freedom in Egypt.
I acknowledge that many stories end differently than Joseph’s, and seemingly God is not in control, but we can have confidence that God in His wisdom uses every trial, every situation, and every difficulty to further His plan and purposes. ..For those who trust and believe in God, His big picture of wisdom is something we can count on..
